A BODY has been found in the search for a man who has not been seen since Monday.

Yesterday officers discovered the body of a man in parkland in Monk Bretton.

Formal identification is yet to take place, however officers do believe it to be that of Spencer Gandley and his family has been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, but officers are keen to understand the circumstances leading up to the body being found.

A police spokesperson said: “We are particularly interested in knowing what Mr Gandley’s movements were after he went missing on Monday, May 13.

“He was last seen in Barnsley town centre at around 9.30am leaving the Santander bank on Queen Street, walking towards the bus interchange.

“If you have any information, please call 101 quoting incident number 0033 of 14 May 2019.”
