Barnsley will be looking to end a run of eight games without a win when they visit lowly Blackburn Rovers tomorrow.

Blackburn are currently in the relegation zone in 22nd position, one point adrift of safety and 13 behind the Reds.

Head coach Paul Heckingbottom told the Chronicle: "It's all about wins and we don't want to end this season on a poor run. We have been doing a lot of good things in our last few games and we just need to make sure we get the results now.

"Blackburn are fighting for their lives, like a lot of the teams we have got left to play this season, so we need to make sure we match their desire for the points.

"Blackburn have picked up a bit lately and they have tightened up at the back. It will be a tough game."

Tony Mowbray, who had been sacked by League One's bottom club Coventry City earlier this season, took over from Owen Coyle as Rovers manager in February with the club second bottom.

He was unbeaten in his first seven matches, although five of them were draws including the last four in that run. Blackburn then lost this week at Brighton and Hove Albion then Reading, who are both in the top four, so have no victories in their last six games.

Their home form has kept them competitive this season with 28 of their 40 points and seven of their nine wins coming at Ewood Park. Barnsley beat Blackburn 2-0 on Boxing Day with goals from Sam Winnall and Marley Watkins but have lost on their last three trips to Ewood Park where they last won in 1999.

Blackburn's top-scorer Danny Graham is a doubt after a groin operation while the two centre-backs Charlie Mulgrew and Darragh Lenihan – who was sent off at Oakwell – both came off with ankle injuries at Reading on Tuesday.

If they cannot recover, Tommie Hoban is expected to start in central defence alongside either former England defender Wes Brown or Elliott Ward, who have played just three league games between them this season.

After this match, Barnsley's next game is another trip to Lancashire to take on a side in the relegation zone as they visit Wigan Athletic on Thursday.

They then host Brentford on Easter Monday before visiting former head coach Lee Johnson's new side Bristol City on April 22. Their final home game of the season will see them welcome lowly Burton Albion on April 29 before they conclude the campaign at current leaders Newcastle United on May 7.
