A 12-YEAR-OLD boy appeared in court this week to face six charges - including one of sexual assault.

The boy - who cannot be named for legal reasons - pleaded guilty to all charges he faced at Barnsley Magistrates' Court. He was accompanied into the court room by a responsible adult.

The court was told the boy had touched a woman aged over 16 and that touching was sexual when she did not consent and he did not reasonably believe that she was consenting.

He was also charged with criminal damage after smashing a door, threatening behaviour, and three charges of common assault. All the charges were said to have occurred in April and May of this year. When the charges were put to him the boy pleaded guilty to all matters.

He was released on bail and is is due to be sentenced on Tuesday September 5.
