TWO 12-year-old boys have admitted damaging a sculpture which depicts the glass works past of Monk Bretton.

The work, which features five glass chimneys, was damaged within weeks of being installed on the roundabout at the junction of Burton Road, High Street and Fish Dam Lane. It was paid for by the family of the late Dr Stanley Race, a former chairman of glass maunfacturer Redfearns.

Police have confirmed two 12-year-olds have admitted they did it after CCTV was reviewed and they were spotted throwing stones at the glass panes. They will be referred to the Barnsley Youth Offending Team.
