A BRAVE Barnsley man has been honoured with a lifesaving award after he leapt into action to rescue three pensioners trapped in a car which had crashed and landed on its side.

Richard Chadburn had been driving through Hoyland when he happened upon the car probably seconds after the crash on King Street.

Richard, 40, of Valley Way, Hoyland, was first on the scene and clambered up onto the precariously balanced car, which was resting on its driver’s side, and quickly managed to rescue two passengers.

But the driver, a woman aged 76, was trapped in the driver’s seat and had been injured.
