A BARNSLEY builder who died of natural causes aged just 38 will long be remembered with a new bench which has been unveiled under a tree on a new housing estate he worked on.

Jonathan Hoyle, of Darton, died in June 2016.

He worked for David Wilson Homes as an assistant site manager and the firm invited his friends, colleagues and family including parents Brian and Marie Hoyle, and sister Jessica Hoyle to the unveiling of the memorial bench at its Oaklands development in Pontefract.

His mum Marie said: “We want to thank Jonathan’s friends and colleagues who were able to celebrate the life of our son last week. It means so much that we have a beautiful, dedicated space to visit, which we are so proud and impressed by it is incredibly special to us.”

Construction director Darren Johnson said: “Jonathan was an excellent assistant site manager and it only feels right to have something special dedicated to him on site.

“When we were deciding where would be the most fitting location to remember and mark a wonderful man, one location instantly sprang to mind - the beautiful oak tree that Jonathan loved to visit and photograph.

“We are proud to have created a space for his family and friends, both from home and work, to come and remember him by in a spot they knew brought him so much joy.”
