PRESSURE on Barnsley's bulging primary schools will be eased if proposals to create a new free school on two separate sites get the go ahead.
There is a projected shortfall of 126 primary school places in Barnsley for next September and a further 117 places for the following September.
Greenacre special school has submitted plans to the government to open a new primary school for up to 480 pupils - half on a site somewhere in Barnsley close to Greenacre, and a second site somewhere in the Dearne Valley.
