A BURGLAR left a bizarre note for a Wombwell florist telling her he had stolen her laptop after breaking into and ransacking the shop.

Jacky Carroll, who has run Gabby’s Florists on the High Street for 17 years, discovered her shop had been broken into when she arrived last Saturday morning.

A Toshiba laptop, a new mobile phone and the roughly £40 contents of the till’s float were taken in the raid, which saw the downstairs and back room ransacked.

Two charity boxes, for Wombwell-based RADAR Dog Rescue and Barnsley Hospice, were smashed and their contents also taken.

The handwritten note, saying ‘I’ve took your laptop’ was discovered written on a scrap of paper in blue marker pen and left on the shop’s counter.

Jacky said: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw the note. It was just weird. Obviously I know they’ve taken my laptop, because it wasn’t there. And it wasn’t like I didn’t know someone had been in - the place was a mess.”

Police took the note to analyse it for fingerprints.
