NEW flexible bus tickets will be introduced in Barnsley in January as part of a shake-up of the way services are operated across the town.

The Barnsley Bus Partnership - made up of bus companies, Barnsley Council and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive - have spent months working on the new arrangement.

They still have to be approved, but if adopted will see changes to a range of services across the town, with some routes changed or in some cases scrapped.

Part of the review has been made necessary by the collapse of the Tates bus company, which left the Passenger Transport Executive needing to put in subsidies to prop up the routes the firm had previously operated.
