Stairfoot boxer Matthew Mallin realises this could be his second and last chance to win a national title.
Mallin, 23, takes on the reigning light-middleweight English title holder, Rotherham's Navid Mansouri, tonight at iceSheffield. They originally fought before Christmas but the bout only lasted three minutes before 'Buster' suffered a cut on his right eye.
Promoter Dave Coldwell promised a re-match would be made and was as good as his word. Mallin intends to make Coldwell feel like he has made a mistake.
He said: "Nav's not a million miles away from me. He's a viable opponent for me, in my career at this time. It's not like I'm fighting Ryan Rhodes or Brian Rose. Boxing's already on the map in Barnsley with me and Josh (Wale) but a win would help to make it even more popular.
"Everything's getting left in the ring on the night. All I've got to think is that if I do what Mick (Wale, his trainer) says and give 110 percent then there's no reason why that belt can't come back with us."
Getting a shot at the title was seen as a lucky break with Mallin not considered as one of the top ten British fighters in his weight category. Nevertheless, careers have been built on luck and this is how Wale sees it.
"Buster realises that this is a massive chance and one he probably doesn't quite deserve," said Mick.
"Who knows, he could catch Nav early on and we'll have an English champion in the gym. It's a big ask but we've got a chance."
Following the first fight, Mallin required 24 stitches in his eye and spent most of the night in hospital. "We got to the hospital about 11 o'clock and I didn't leave with my dad until about six in morning," he added. "I had to see an eye specialist because none of the other doctors wanted to touch it. It was a tiring night and I only did one round. It was a new experience for me but that's boxing."
