CALLS for traffic calming measures to be installed on a ‘dangerous’ Cudworth road have been made - before a fatal accident occurs.

Pontefract Road’s issues with parked cars and speeding have been highlighted by Julie Lawcock, 53, and 30-year-old daughter Jenna, who live on nearby Scholars Gate.

The Chronicle revealed that Barnsley Council had approved plans to enforce a traffic regulation order on the road, from Montague Street to Crosby Street, meaning that double yellow lines will be painted in the coming weeks to prevent motorists from parking on the road and obscuring drivers’ views.

However, the Lawcocks believe that the council’s plan is not enough and have called for mirrors to be installed opposite the side streets’ junctions with Pontefract Road, as well as a speed camera to deter speeding motorists.
