CALLS have been made for Shafton’s long-running issues with boy racers to become a policing priority.

Young motorists have been using Shafton Community Centre’s car park as a meeting place since last summer and despite reports of laughing gas, alcohol and marijuana allegedly being consumed, so far police bosses at the area’s PACT meeting have refused to commit resources into tackling the problem.

Shafton Parish Council will install a new CCTV system at the venue in the coming weeks, the Chronicle understands, after more than six months of issues.

Chairman Dave North said: “There will be four cameras which will all have smart phone connection so we can monitor them whenever we want.”
