BARNSLEY Hospital’s accident and emergency department will be hitting television again and headlining in a Channel Five programme.

Casualty 24/7, a four-part series, will follow the hospital’s doctors, nurses and volunteers working around the clock.

Filming has already started in the department for the show, which is expected to air later this year, and it’s the second time the hospital has featured on the programme after more than a million viewers tuned in last year.

Emma Parkes, director of marketing and communications at the hospital, said: “I am really excited for the next series to be released.

“It really does show the fantastic work our staff and volunteers do on a daily basis.

“Last year’s episodes really encapsulated the outstanding care that we strive to give to all of our patients and I am looking forward to showcasing this.”
