A campaign group set up to protect greenbelt land in Hoyland Common is stepping up its fight.

Save Hoyland Common Greenbelt says 'huge amounts of green space' are being targeted for new housing in Barnsley Council's Local Plan, which covers development up to 2033.

Campaigner Jo Collins, 36, and her husband Steve, 38, kick-started the campaign with neighbours Lucy Robson and her husband Chris. Their Facebook page now has more than 500 likes.

They are fighting an allocation for 600 houses on a site next to where they live which borders Tinker Lane, Hoyland Road and Upper Hoyland Road in Hoyland Common.
