A CAMPAIGN to save an award winning voluntary project which works with some of Barnsley’s most needy has been launched.

The Romero Guidance Centre based at St Helen’s Church in Athersley, is set to close its doors on August 10, due to a funding crisis.

And its loss would prove a massive blow to the community.

Clients range from those needing long-term support for a wide range of problems, to people facing a sudden crisis like redundancy or bereavement.

But government cuts forcing the council to stop funding the centre, along with other revenue streams drying up, has led to the current situation.
