A BARNSLEY cancer nurse got the surprise of her life this week when the Lorraine Kelly show broadcast live from the hospital to thank her for ‘making the world a better place’.

Lisa Sanderson is a head and neck cancer nurse specialist at Barnsley Hospital.

She works daily with cancer patients but it wasn’t until recently that she could truly appreciate what they were going through.

In March 2015, Lisa was given the life changing news she had rare aggressive neuro endocrine cancer in her breast after finding a lump one morning. Thankfully she is now on the road to recovery and is using her own cancer journey to help her patients through theirs.

The 46-year-old had no idea that Dr Hilary from the flagship ITV morning show was in a room next door on Wednesday, waiting to surprise her as she was setting up for a Macmillan coffee morning.
