MORE than £52,000 is being spent on the transformation of Cannon Hall gardens.

Barnsley Council has given approval to use Section 106 money - cash set aside by a developer as part of a legal agreement to benefit the community - totalling £52,381 to fund part of the Parks for People, Restoring the Glory, Revealing the Secrets project.

The project aims to restore the 18th century layout and strengthen its offer as a major tourist and cultural attraction.

The decision to award the money has been signed off by Coun Roy Miller.
