A BARNSLEY woman had a lucky escape when a car smashed into her home as she was upstairs sleeping.

Gillian Dodson was fast asleep in the front bedroom of the stone built terraced house in Old Mill Lane when she was woken by a tremendous bang at around 7.50am on Monday.

She jumped out of bed and went downstairs to discover the wall between her door and window had been pushed well into her front room.

Gillian, 59, who works at Barker’s Butchers in Barnsley Market, said: “I was having a lay in as Monday is a day off from work when I heard a very loud bang.”
