PLANS for a new boiler house fuelled by wood pellets at a care home have been submitted to Barnsley Council.

Aggregated Micro Power Holdings has made the application to install two 199kW biomass boilers and build the required associated plant room and flues at Lindhurst Lodge Care Home, Athersley North.

The application is part retrospective as some of the work has already begun.

It will include a fuel store, which will require deliveries of wood pellets by lorry once a month on average. Planning documents state the largest vehicle which may undertake the delivery is an 8-wheel pellet blower lorry, from which the wood pellets will be blown from the truck into the store room via 25m blow and venting pipes which will be connected to the plant room.

Comments can be made on the application until August 30.
