A care trainer is in with a chance of winning a national care award for her work helping other carers gain qualifications in health and social care.
Alison Durkin won the 'care trainer' award at the region finals of the Great British Care Awards and is now n the national finals in June.
Alison, 42, of Ardsley Road, Worsbrough, works for TLC Homecare, based on Stocks Lane, Barnsley, and provides care at home to the elderly.
She trains care workers in elements such as health and safety, dementia, safeguarding adults and medication awareness.
A panel of judges asked about her background, where she gets funding from and how she develops and delivers courses.
The judges were impresses with her enthusiastic, motivated and passionate drive to make a difference.
She said: "I was absolutely over the moon. This is my 26th year in care. I've worked for TLC for 16 years and I've been training people since 2005. I get a lot of recognition in Barnsley from the people I work with, but to be recognised outside of Barnsley was overwhelming."
TLC also won the care employer award for being inspirational and passionate, its staff retention, and 'ability to be dynamic in a rapidly changing sector'
The awards are supported by the Department of Health and celebrate excellence in social care and pay tribute to those who work in the sector throughout England.
