FRESH flowers have returned to Dodworth Road just two doors up from where well-known florist Dennis Beevers was based for decades.
Wickham and Taylor Ltd has moved into the recently refurbished shop on Dodworth Road. It is run by Carole Wickham who is a friend of Dennis who she said had been a huge help and support in setting up the business.
“It’s nice to be on Dodworth Road where so many people will remember Dennis’s business,” she said. “He’s a very good friend and has been a huge help.”
Carole, who used to work for the NHS, opened her first shop in Mapplewell just over a year ago, but has taken the plunge to move to the more prominent home where she expects much more passing trade.
“We are a florist in the traditional sense, but we also do venue styling services, like chair covers and twinkling light back drops, for weddings, functions and corporate events, so it’s great to be in a busy location like this.”
Carole, a one time personal assistant to the chief executive of Barnsley Hospital, decided to have a complete career change and is now a fully-qualified florist.
