CALL the Midwife star Jessica Raine has signed up for a new ITV period drama being filmed in Barnsley that will be shown around the world.
Raine will take a leading role in Jericho, an eight-part series being shot in rural Wortley, starring alongside Mark Addy of Atlantis and Full Monty fame, Clarke Peters of The Wire and Hans Matheson from The Tudors.
Picturesque farmland in Wortley has been transformed into a film set for the show and filming starts at the end of the month.
ITV Studios Global Entertainment will distribute Jericho internationally and locals are hoping it will put Barnsley and Wortley on the map.
