A FAMILY have been left with a huge vet’s bill after a suspected attack on their pet cat.

James and Hannah Parkin said they believe their cat, Minnie, had been deliberately kicked after she returned home injured having been missing for several days.

The couple, of Lidgett Lane, Tankersley, discovered the extent of the injuries when they took the four-year-old to the vet, and an x-ray revealed extensive internal injuries.

“The vets said it was blunt-force trauma but it came from underneath her, like she’d been kicked,” James said. “If Minnie had been hit by a car, the impact would have affected her differently.”

Minnie needed surgery at Abbey vet’s to repair internal ruptures but the family was left with a bill of more than £2,000 to save their beloved pet, who they rescued when she was 10 months old.

The couple are horrified that somebody would be able to hurt an innocent animal. “It’s absolutely disgusting and sickening that someone could act like this towards an animal. Whoever has done this, we want them to see the pain they’ve caused to the animal and family,” said James.

Minnie is now recovering at home.
