A PRIMARY school has been rated ‘good’ across the board in its first Ofsted inspection since becoming an academy.

Littleworth Grange was last inspected back in April 2016 where it was rated as ‘requires improvement’.

In the most recent report it was stated that: “Leaders provide clear guidance and communicate high expectations to teachers.

“As a result, teaching and learning across the school, including early years, is good.

“Occasionally, work provided for the most able pupils is not sufficiently challenging.

“Pupils’ outcomes have improved year-on-year since the school’s conversion to sponsored academy status.

“However, there remain historic gaps in pupils’ knowledge that still need ironing out.

“Since sponsoring the school, the academy leaders have rightly prioritised establishing a strong curriculum that secures pupils’ basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics.

“The same depth of study is not evident for some other subjects, such as science, history and geography.”

Principal Gemma Kilner, said: “We are pleased that Ofsted have recognised the significant improvements that have been made at the academy.

“Outcomes for children have improved dramatically over the last three years and they are now ten per cent above the national average.

“The whole academy community can rightly celebrate the improvements that we have made together through our commitment to putting children first in all that we do.”
