ROADWORKS outside Barnsley Cemetery which led to a mother abandoning plans to visit her son’s grave are set to continue for several weeks with more disruption expected.

Cemetery Road has been closed to downhill traffic since last week for resurfacing work causing severe traffic on surrounding roads and junctions.

Trish Hall said it had made it very difficult to fit visits to the grave of her son Daniel around work due to the major traffic disruption.

But on Sunday when she learned the road had been closed in both directions she had to give up altogether.

“I know they have to do roadworks but I just don’t think they should have closed the road in both directions at all,” said Trish, 48, of Queen’s Drive, Dodworth.
