WHEN Pearl Sharp first heard of a sea of poppies outside the Tower of London she knew straight away she had to have one.

The iconic installation Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red saw 888,246 ceramic poppies planted in the tower's moat.

Each poppy represented a British military fatality during the Great War.

Pearl, of Wentworth Crescent, Mapplewell, was one of its many visitors and said it was a "moving" experience. When she learned that every single poppy would be put up for sale for £25 each, with the money raised going to six different service charities, she applied to buy one.

Pearl has now put the poppy on display in her shop, Dancerama, in Upper May Day Green.
