A BARNSLEY mum died after suffering two stokes, aged just 36 - now friends of Clare Broomhead have recorded a charity single to raise money for the stroke unit that looked after her.

Clare, a single mum, suffered a stroke on December 27 and died on January 15 after a second stroke.

Her shocked friends described the mum of a 16-year-old son as "a shining light" and decided they wanted to do something to mark her life and help other.

Clare, from Berrydale, Worsbrough Bridge, had been friends with Shelley Whitehead who lives nearby since they were children.

Shelley and her husband Andy decided it would be a fitting tribute if money could be raised for the stoke unit at Kendray hospital where Clare had been so well looked after.

So 42-year-old Andy has been into recording studios with Jennifer Reynolds and Joe Fletcher and the charity single, So Far Away, is now available online.

Details of how to buy the song and how to make donations in Clare's memory are on a special facebook page called So Far Away Broomy's version.
