THESE images of staff working at the Barnsley Chronicle have been made available across the globe by one of the world’s biggest picture agencies.

Photographer Leon Neal, who normally spends his days photographing celebrities, politicians and major news events for Getty Images, asked if he could spend a week at the Barnsley Chronicle to document a week in the life of a local paper.

He captured the weekly editorial meeting where plans for the week were put in place, he followed photographer Shaun Colborn as he went out to photograph news events, accompanied sports editor Doug O’Kane to Oakwell, and headed to the town hall to witness Sir Steve Houghton, leader of the council, being interviewed about an emerging story. He followed the story from start to finish, ending with shots of the printing press rolling, and even shadowed a paper boy delivering the Chronicle through letter boxes in Hoyland.

His work will be available for all time to anyone who wants to use the images.
