A PROJECT to teach teenagers transferable life skills and 'the things they don't learn in school' is growing in popularity in Barnsley.

The National Citizens Service (NCS) gives 16 and 17-year olds a variety of experiences such as outdoor trips and activities including rock climbing and kayaking.

Eden Royle, 17, took part in the project during the summer and has now taken on the role of public relation officer for the project in Barnsley and is hoping to encourage as many young people as possible to get involved.

The Barnsley project is based at Barnsley Football Club.

She said: "I think it's important to let young people know that there is a place for them to learn the things that they might not learn in school."
