A PENISTONE mum whose two young sons were murdered by their father is a finalist in a national search to find inspiring and determined women.

Claire Throssell has dedicated her life to campaigning for child safety after the brutal killing of her sons Jack, 12, and nine-year-old Paul.

They died in October 2014 after a fire was deliberately started by their father Darren Sykes in the former family home.

Claire is campaigning for the government and courts to protect children after their parents have separated.

Since January Claire has been actively campaigning with the charity Women’s Aid, as well as setting up her own organisation, Heads Together - a local charity that supports families who are experiencing or have experienced the terminal illness or death of a child - in memory of her sons.

Claire has been named a finalist in the Red magazine Women of the Year difference maker award.
