THE MOTHER of two boys killed in a fire started by their own father was in the House of Commons yesterday as MPs took part in a debate about domestic abuse victims in family law courts.

Claire Throssell’s two sons Jack and Paul Sykes died after their father Darren Sykes deliberately set fire to the former family home in October 2014.

Claire and Darren had previously separated and she had warned he could hurt the boys or even kill them.

She said she told social workers and officers from the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (CAFCASS) that Sykes was a bully and controlling, that he had verbally threatened her and the children and had ‘physically chastised’ the children who were scared of him.
