A ONE-OFF clean-up day could be held at a fly-tipping hotspot in Grimethorpe.

Tuesday’s Brierley, Grimethorpe and Shafton Crime and Safety Group was told that local councillors are looking at ways to get on top of Coronation Avenue and Oldroyd Avenue’s issues with dumping.

It’s claimed that the streets’ residents have been adding to the build up of rubbish and ‘dumping on their own doorstep’.

Coun Jeff Ennis said: “Local councillors walked the affected areas just before Christmas and it’s in a deplorable state. We’ve established it’s not Barnsley Council’s responsibility to maintain so we’re looking at asking the community payback team to put on a one-off day of action.”
