A BARNSLEY-BASED clothing brand will send 36 girls in India to school following a donation of profit from Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales in 2018.
Ethical dungaree brand, Lucy and Yak, took ten per cent of all sales made to help young girls in India get an education.
They worked in partnership with grassroots charity Fior Di Loto, which is an Indian foundation focused on working in the village of Pushkar, in the state of Rajasthan where Lucy and Yak’s products are made.
All of the money raised will go to sponsoring the girls to get their education, and will fund not only a year of schooling but will buy uniforms, school books, lunches, transport to and from, and outfits for Indian festivals.
Founder of Lucy and Yak, Lucy Greenwood, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to every single one of our customers who bought anything on these days - we wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.
“Thirty-six was way beyond what we expected, and to be working with a charity so wonderful, in a region of India that is so close to our hearts, and be able to change the lives of girls who need it most is amazing.
“We are so grateful to have a loyal and loving customer base who were to happy to sacrifice a sale saving and instead make a difference to someone’s life.”
