THREE colleagues decided to try to get fit and raise some charity cash for Barnsley Hospital's special Tiny Hearts appeal at the same time.

David Fallis, 31, Paul Philburn 37, and Paul Mangham 51, work at Springwell Special Academy: David and Paul Mangham are teachers and Paul Philburn is a teaching assistant.

Before the event the intrepid trio, who called themselves the Springwell Stooges, had managed to lose more than five stones between them and vowed to cross the finishing line, even if they had to crawl or drag each other over.

On the day David completed the 13 miles in just over two hours and both Pauls finished just under three hours.

Having set themselves a fundraising target of £250 the men have so far received £880 donations on their just giving account.
