A SUPER HERO comic book lover who went from selling them to drawing them is making a name for himself here and abroad.

David Golding got his big break after a scriptwriter from America spotted his work on the internet and commissioned him to write, draw and colour four graphic novels for Dare Comics called The Hunter.

They were a huge success here and in the States and he then went on to produce design and concept work for a movie based on that series, followed by work on another Dare title called Starmaker.

It took David, 39, to America where his artwork achieved notable success.

He said: "It was launched at San Diego Comic-Con in California and that was fantastic. It's quite a big deal and it is totally crazy out there. Definitely something you don't forget."

It was a dream come true for the Barnsley lad, who lived on Shirland Avenue, Athersley South, and went to St Helen's secondary school.

His success in America led to further work doing storyboards for movies, mainly sci-fi, and rap videos for American artists.
