BBC show Gardeners' World could step in to help locals create a community garden in Hoyland.

Alison Richardson and Charlotte Oughton came up with the idea for the flower and vegetable garden called 'Owd Martha's Yard' for a plot of wasteland behind Belmont Working Men's Club on West Street.

Charlotte, who runs the Allotment Deli in Hoyland, was looking for celebrities to support the project and wrote to Gardeners' World.

She was contacted by Gardeners' World researcher Rob Watts who said the show would potentially be keen to get involved. He asked questions such as if there was a design, who would create the garden, if there was funding, and how much of the garden would be devoted to flowers and food. He also asked if she had photos of the area.

He said: "I am very interested to hear more about the community garden project in Hoyland, so inevitably I have a long list of questions."
