A RUNNING group with a difference is coming to Barnsley next year.

GoodGym is about people meeting up to exercise but stopping mid-session to do a good deed in the community, using the organised runs to take volunteers out to the people who need them and at the same time improving people’s fitness.

Runs vary in length, from three to 15k, and GoodGym members can sign up to a distance they feel comfortable with, using a break halfway through to lend a hand in the community.

Barnsley Council boss Wendy Lowder took to social media to share the news that a group will soon be set up in the town, tweeting: “Pleased to get funding to bring @goodgym to Barnsley in 2017.”
