MEMBERS of a community group say they have been saddened by a gang of youths shooting at squirrels in Wombwell cemetery.
A trio of young people carrying suspected air rifles were chased out of the cemetery by members of the Friends of Wombwell Cemetery group over the weekend.
Mike Bretton said: "We have had it before and we will have it again because some people like to roam around with air rifles.
"The local idiots spoil things for people and the parents need to take more control.
"I suppose squirrels are classed as vermin but they are not treated as such in the cemetery."
The local Safer Neighbourhood Team patrolled the cemetery after the reports.
