A SIX-WEEK consultation on major plans for development across Barnsley for the next 20 years opens on Monday.

The local plan sets planning policy for the future development of the borough up to 2033 and earmarks huge areas - including greenbelt sites- for housing and employment.

Coun Roy Miller said: "We want people's views on these ambitious plans for Barnsley. It's essential that we grow the borough's economy in order to secure a future for residents and businesses."

Information about the plan is available via a dedicated webpage www.barnsley.gov.uk/localplanconsultation

People can make their comments on the local plan from either by completing the questionnaire available via the council’s consultation page http://consult.barnsley.gov.uk/portal or by filling in a comment form available on the information web page.
