CONTROVERSIAL plans for a potential 315-home development in Cudworth will be submitted before the end of the summer, the Chronicle can reveal.

Barratt Homes, who were expected to reveal details of their would-be build on former green belt land off Carrs Lane at the end of July, have quashed rumours that they were considering pulling out of the village after a well-publicised residents' backlash.

The site, which is part of the Barnsley Unitary Development Plan (UDP), is earmarked for housing but more than 1,000 residents have signed a petition against building on it since May.

Barratt, who are 'well aware' of the objections, told the Chronicle that it's revising its initial plans ahead of its submission to the council, taking into account what residents have been saying to councillors, on social media and in meetings.
