BARNSLEY Council has been given a black mark for the way it handled an appeal from a parent about which school her child could to go to.
Council watchdog, the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO), has ruled there was not enough clear information or fair process in Barnsley’s schools admissions appeals.
The woman was one of four parents who appealed for a reception place at a primary school. She complained to the LGO that the panel refused her appeal without giving her the chance to put her case individually.
