COUNCILLORS have decided not to go ahead with a community magazine over concerns it would increase workloads for ‘already stretched’ council officers.

The Central Area Council members, made up of councillors from the Central, Kingstone, Dodworth, Worsbrough and Stairfoot wards, were asked to consider whether they wanted to be included in a community magazine programme for November 2016 to October 2017.

Area councils - excluding Central - have so far have produced two community magazines which were distributed to residents’ homes in December last year and July this year.

Joe Micheli, the lead locality officer for the council, said there had been a review of the magazines and that residents had also been asked to complete a survey to give their feedback. Just 25 responses were received despite the magazines reaching more than 90,000 households.
