PAY to several of the top officers of Barnsley Council increased by more than four per cent, latest accounts show.

Salaries of the nine highest paid staff are itemised in the council’s draft 2016/17 statement of accounts published this week.

Four of the post holders have left the authority but the remaining five have all seen their total pay increase.

Chief executive Diana Terris was paid a salary of £155,000 but her total remuneration, including expenses and contributions to her pension was £192,000. This was an increase from £184,000 last year - a rise of 4.3 per cent.

Other staff who have seen increases in their total remuneration include a four per cent rise for the executive director for people Rachel Dickinson (£154k up from £148k), a 5.6 per cent hike for Matt Gladstone, executive director for place (£150k up from £142k) and 4.8 per cent for the director of legal and governance, Andrew Frosdick (£130k up from £124).

The accounts will be presented to the audit committee on Wednesday.
