A DEARNE councillor is hopeful that money can be found to see the whole of rundown Beever Street in Goldthorpe demolished.

Plans to demolish 19 of the houses (those with odd numbers) were passed by Barnsley Council's planning board in April but the houses on the other side of the street are in equally bad condition according to Coun Ralph Sixsmith.

Coun Sixsmith said: "All the houses are sub-standard and they are not fit for purpose. It's the 21st century and we need to improve."
