COUNCILLORS will visit the site of a contentious plan to build 80 houses on two football pitches.

An outline application for the development on Carrington Avenue, Honeywell, was approved last year.

On Tuesday, councillors will examine the site ahead of making a decision on the detailed ‘reserved matters’ application, which looks at appearance, landscaping, layout and scale of the housing development.

It comes after last year’s outline application sparked outrage from two Old Town ward councillors who said it wasn’t fair that community cash secured as part of the planning permission was to be spent in another part of the borough.
