A FORMER ASOS employee who stole more than £900 of clothing from the retailer’s warehouse has been ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.

Razvan Teodorescu, of Thorne Road, Doncaster, had worked for the online fashion giant for just two weeks before he ‘gave into temptation’ and stole items from its distribution centre near Grimethorpe.

The 26-year-old, from Romania, took two Hugo Boss t-shirts, five Moschino t-shirts, two pairs of Diesel boxer shorts, two Ralph Lauren shirts, one pair of Ralph Lauren socks, a pack of Calvin Klein boxer shorts and one Tommy Hilfiger shirt on November 10.

Barnsley Magistrates’ Court was told he hid three large parcels containing the items, worth £935.95, on him and attempted to walk back to his vehicle at 7am.

When he was spotted ‘walking funny’ by a colleague, police were called and Teodorescu was arrested. He admitted theft and pleaded guilty in court on Wednesday.

Julian Brook, defending, said: “He had worked at ASOS for two weeks and had noticed items laying around. He took advantage of that, although he denies stealing items to then sell on. He is sorry for it and realises he has abused a position of trust.”

Teodorescu was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
