Last season's Players' Player of the Year Martin Cranie has signed a new two-year deal at the club, meaning that goalkeeper Luke Steele is the only Red that has yet to pen the deal he has been offered.

Cranie, 26, joined the Reds last August following relegation with Coventry City and played a crucial role in making sure he did not suffer the drop again with Barnsley.

The centre-back, who once played for England in the final of the European under 21 Championships, made 41 appearances for the Reds and produced a string of fantastic displays.

The former Yeovil, Southampton and Portsmouth player told the club's website: "I am absolutely delighted to sign a new contract at Barnsley. There was never any doubt that I would be coming back."

Cranie joins Jason Scotland, Tom Kennedy, Jim McNulty, Tomasz Cywka and Bobby Hassell as the players who have signed new deals. Only last season's captain Luke Steele is yet to decide on whether he returns for next season.
