A COMMUNITY effort to fund a local cricket club’s trip to Lord’s has reached its £1,500 target - in just a week.
Houghton Main CC will travel to the prestigious ground on September 15 to play in the final of the National Village Cup - the first time the club has done so since 2006.
A spokesman for the club said: “Thanks to everyone that has donated to our cause. We’ve now met our fundraising goal which will go a long way towards hotel, travel and suit costs.
“We appreciate the (mostly) positive feedback we’ve received from friends, family and the local community, without your support we’d be stumped.
“Our page remains open for anyone still wanting to donate.”
