A CYCLIST is warning fellow riders to be careful using tracks in Wombwell Woods after discovering debris blocking the paths.

Mike Wilby, 37, from Wath, was riding on the tracks last week when he noticed branches laid deliberately at wheel height to block the routes.

Mike said: “Most of the obstacles were obviously there to just slow people down, either mountain bikers like myself or those on motorbikes. They were either branches or rocks placed directly on the trail but there were a few examples of larger branches that had purposefully been placed above ground level, at wheel height, which could have undoubtedly caused an accident if they weren’t seen in time whilst travelling at speed.”
