Barnsley's new star signing Dale Jennings says his move to Yorkshire is 'perfect' as he prepares to become a father later this year.

The wonderkid signed a three-year deal at Oakwell on Tuesday in a £250,000 switch from European champions Bayern Munich.

Twenty-year-old Jennings, who started his career at Tranmere before his dream switch to Germany, told the Chronicle that he rarely trained with the first team at Bayern and was delighted to move back to Britain.

He said: "My girlfriend is five months' pregnant and we're having a little girl so that will give me something to play for and will make me more responsible. It's perfect for me to come to Barnsley. There were a few other Championship clubs interested but having spoken to the manager and the assistant, I knew this was the right move for me.

"I had a good vibe about Barnsley. I don't know any of the players but can't wait to meet them all at training on Monday."
